Moving to Burnsville
The town of Burnsville welcomes you to our community and to your new home. We are located less than 15 miles away from Minneapolis and Bloomington is even a shorter drive than that. We know you will enjoy living in Burnsville, MN with all of the features and amenities available at your fingertips.
The Burnsville Public Works Department is dedicated to keeping the city clean and running smoothly. After major storms, the department offers a curbside cleanup service of any debris caused by the weather. The only thing you have to do is get the debris (tree limbs, leaves, etc.) to the curb by the specified date and it will be taken care of for you. Burnsville also has a City Compost Site behind the Dodge dealer on Pleasant Avenue. You can take your compostable debris to the site and drop it off during certain parts of the year and help the environment. In addition to that, the department offers free black dirt and grass seed following large storms so residents can repair any damages to various areas and keep the city looking beautiful. For more information about these services or the Burnsville Public Works Department, call the city directly at (952) 895-4550.
Burnsville encourages its residence to take ownership of the community and its beauty by offering and Adopt-a-Park program and an Adopt-a-Street program. These public service programs are for volunteers who want to clean and maintain the parks and streets throughout Burnsville. Volunteers have been known to pick up litter, plant and maintain flowers, trees and shrubs and other general cleanup work. Your organization, church or group can "adopt a park" which is a minimum three-year agreement to pick up the litter once in May and in September and twice per month in June and August. Your area of the park will even be recognized with a 30"x48" sign for your efforts. The city provides free trash bags and even removes those bags once they are full. To get more information about this community project, call (952) 895-4521.
Do you like going to garage sales or holding your own garage sale? Each spring, the city of Burnsville sponsors the annual Community Wide Garage Sale. The city provides the publicity in local papers along with a map with the registered garage sales throughout the community. The maps are free and available at City Hall, the Maintenance Center, Birnamwood Golf Course, Burnhaven Library and at several individual garage sales.
The Burnsville Community Garden is located at Neill Park and offers 20'x20' plots that the city's residents can decorate and plant for only $35.00. Plots are available for renting and decorating between May and October and they become available in January on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information about the Burnsville Community Garden, call (952) 895-4500.
